Come and Celebrate Color & Find the Inner Artist in You!
Come explore your creative side and learn how to paint a soothing colorful seascape, “Watch Hill Sky.” Join in this relaxed evening event at the UNITED and find your inner creativity by painting your own work of art, while sipping your favorite beverage. Enjoy a night of painting and allow your creativity to blossom while you receive artistic guidance from Helen Roy, a Westerly artist. No previous painting experience necessary – just a desire to relax, have fun and connect with your creative side. Learn how to paint a beautiful abstract seascape on a canvas for only $35. All materials will be included – Just bring your smile! Space is limited so buy a ticket in advance and reserve your spot.
This program is presented in partnership between The United Theatre and the Chorus of Westerly. In essence, Speakeasy Choir is a one night choir open to anyone. Guests will join a singing ensemble for the night and will learn a song with harmonies. At the end of the night, a grand performance of all guests will commence with support from the UNITED House Band (made up of instructors from our RI Phil Music School at The United).
All tickets include one specialty cocktail (virgin version also available). This month we will be learning and performing the song Crazy Train by Ozzy Osbourne!

The “Voices of Westerly” series is inspired by Westerly photographer/artist Josh Behan’s “Faces of Westerly” portrait series – which is on permanent display and rotation at the UNITED. “Voices of Westerly” live discussions take place monthly in the “Post-Credits Scene” gallery and events space at the UNITED – where there is a dedicated bar. Each interview is recorded and archived for the soon-to-launch Voices of Westerly podcast series on The United Theatre Podcast Network.
Join us for a screening of the film Paint followed by a presentation and Q&A from the film’s Art Director Cassandra Holden. In Paint, Owen Wilson stars as Carl Nargle, Vermont’s #1 public TV painter who is convinced he has it all: a signature perm, custom van, and fans hanging on his every stroke… until a younger, better artist steals everything (and everyone) Carl loves. Following the film join us for a special presentation and Q&A from Art Director Cassandra Holden on building the aesthetic universe of the film and making it come to life in collaboration with the director, cinematographer, production designer, and art department team. She oversaw the visual elements of the film such as set design and construction, set decoration, vehicles, and props, including the many paintings of the main characters.
Fresh off of his 2023 Grammy win for “Best Reggae Album,” Kabaka Pyramid comes to the UNITED to kickoff the summer season. Kabaka is a conscious revolutionary lyricist with a unique musical style; blending the power, energy and melody of Reggae with the lyricism of Hip hop. Hailing from Kingston, Jamaica this Bebble Rock Music artist uses his liquid and hypnotizing delivery to spread positive messages of spiritual evolution that forces you to listen. The name “Kabaka” is Ugandan for “King” and the long lasting survival of the Pyramids of ancient Africa represent his desire for longevity in the music and deep connection to Kemetic roots; leaving messages for generations to come.
United We Laugh presentsEric Neumann – one of the fastest rising standup comedians in the United States. In February 2022, he made his late night debut on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallonon NBC. Vulture ranked his late night appearance the “Second best moment of late night TV that week”. He has recorded two albums/specials: Nervous Lover, Just A Phase and most recently, But Enough About Me: A Crowdwork Album. All three debuted at number 1 on the iTunes Comedy Charts and are currently playing on Sirius XM Radio. He has appeared on Comedy Central’s This Week At The Comedy Cellar Season 3, as well as Season 1 of the The Iliza Shlesinger Sketch Show on Netflix. Also appearing this month are comedians Frank Favia, Tad Flynn, and Jen Gittess.
In this humorous paean to the joys of food, a pair of truck drivers happen onto a decrepit roadside shop selling ramen noodles. The widowed owner, Tampopo, begs them to help her turn her establishment into a paragon of the “art of noodle-soup making”. Interspersed are satirical vignettes about the importance of food to different aspects of human life.

Join us for our first ever PRIDE Night event in the Post Credit’s Scene space at the UNITED. Enjoy drink specials throughout the night and live music from Tyler Seton! Seton, originally from NJ, came to Westerly in 2014, traveled to Colorado, back to New Jersey, and came back to Westerly at the beginning of the pandemic. Basically, he’s been around. He’s been described as a hopeful songwriter, bringing songs about mental health awareness and unity. Described by @StugglingArtistPodcast as a great Indie Folk Emo artist, trying to rally people without hope together to find that love and compassion that makes us whole. Whenever he plays, he plays to get it all out there, hoping to help people feel and process emotions of all kinds. A portion of the profits from this event will be donated to the Westerly Public Library Teen Pride Club.

Have you ever wanted to give an improv comedy a try? Then join us for a 2-hour workshop designed to give you a sample of what you would be learning in a full improv class. Presented by The Providence Improv Guild
This completely improvised show of loosely connected scenes will make you laugh, cry, laugh, and then cry again. And then laugh. The show starts with suggestions from the audience, and the performers take it from there, weaving a narrative rife with callbacks, one liners, and specifics gleaned from your suggestions.
Join the Mystic Film Festival and Mystic Film Institute for a short film screening of A Tree. A Rock. A Cloud – followed by a live and in person conversation with the film’s director, Karen Allen (Raiders of the Lost Ark, Animal House). The screening and talk will be followed by an informal wine reception in the gallery.

Join us for the first ever Michael DePaola Literary Salon & Open Mic, hosted by Jessica P. Wick, for a miscellany of mythic and moving works from invited guest readers to a poetry and prose open mic featuring your creativity, and yes, musicians are welcome. The event will begin at 7 and wrap up around 8:30. Join comedian Ben Bailey for a night of live comedy at The UNITED! Bailey drove the smash hit series “Cash Cab” (still in syndication) and has performed at The Comedy Store in LA, in clubs across NYC and at major comedy festivals around the world. This event was rescheduled from June 10th to July 8th.
The Tom Petty Project is a celebration of one of rock’s most legendary artists. TPP was formed by a collection of seasoned, professional musicians in the NY/CT area to re-create the soaring live performances, and wide-ranging music catalogue that brought Petty and his bands the gigantic following that persists today. From its origins in 2018, TPP has been selling out popular music venues in the tri-state area, including the Main Stage at the Ware- house in Fairfield, CT, the Levitt Pavilion in Westport, CT and Nantucket’s renowned Chicken Box. The fan reaction has been incredible as word continues to spread that this is the best Tom Petty tribute act on the east coast.

Join us for this special night of jazz celebrating the Blue Note era. Instantly recognized as one of the most important record labels in the history of popular music, the Blue Note catalogue, which consists of great albums, long-playing records, and even 78rpm and 45rpm records is for many the holy grail of jazz.
Bruce Harris has been coming up to Westerly from New York City every year since 2014, when he was brought up by Jazz at Lincoln Center to play the first ever show of The United Theatre revival. During his time in Westerly Bruce has hosted masterclasses with local Jazz students and has consistently brought along some of the most talented up-and-coming jazz musicians, including: Samara Joy; Jazzmeia Horn; Julius Rodriguez; Camila Meza; Clovis Nicolas; Russell Hall; and others.Born and raised in the Bronx, NY, trumpeter Bruce Harris has earned a reputation as one of the most important and emerging voices in jazz today. This August he is playing the Newport Jazz Festival alongside Marquis Hill and Giveton Gelin in a celebration of Louis Armstrong.

Join Mike Love & The Full Circle with featured act SunDub live on the UNITED stage. Mike Love is a musician devoted to revolution through sound. Born in Oahu, Hawaii to a family of musicians, Mike has used music as a conversation for as long as he can remember. He comes from a unique convergence of influences, yet all are bound by their common ambition to inspire positive change in the world. Love releases his music independently on his own Love Not War Records label, and his sound, while rooted in the spirituality and message-based music of roots reggae, fuses a variety of influences including progressive and classic rock, soul, blues, flamenco, jazz, classical, and more. His songs possess wisdom and seek to instill change; they are about being conscious and mindful as human beings living among so many other life forms on this beautiful planet. For Mike, music is a form of healing, learning, and growing.
