Women of ‘76: A Theatrical Tribute to Lesser Known Women of the American Revolution

Main Cinema
Celebrate Women’s Equality Day and America’s 250th Anniversary with a theatrical tribute to the lesser known women of the American Revolution presented by the League of Women Voters of South County.
Step back in time and discover the untold stories of 5 courageous women, both patriot and loyalist, American and foreign born, who witnessed, chronicled and in some cases changed the course of the American Revolution. A few of the remarkable women in this powerful theatrical presentation include a Massachusetts housewife who led an all-female militia to capture British spies; a German baroness who followed her Hessian general husband into the British camps; a fearless Georgian farmer’s wife who stood her ground against a Redcoat search party alone; and two more bold, forgotten heroines who helped shape a nation. Discover their courage. Hear their voices. Experience the Revolution.
Women of ‘76 is a one woman show from Rita Parisi, a celebrated actor, playwright, and the visionary behind Waterfall Productions, a touring theatrical company she founded in 2005. Based in Massachusetts, Rita has devoted her career to crafting and performing original solo shows that illuminate history, literature, and the lives of remarkable women through immersive storytelling and period costuming.
This event benefits the League of Women Voters of South County, a nonpartisan organization dedicated to encouraging informed and active participation in government.
