Voices & Votes: A Musical Cabaret Celebration of Women’s Equality Day
The League of Women Voters of South County present an evening of entertainment in honor of Women’s Equality Day – featuring performers Eden Casteel and Dot Resier sharing songs and stories that highlight the journey and triumphs of the women’s suffrage movement.
Eden Casteel, a “stunning coloratura soprano” with “a great sense of comic timing” headlines and produces the show. She is a dynamic performer, producer, and pianist who writes, plays, and directs performing projects nationwide. Eden (as in “The Garden Of”) performs at piano bars, theaters, and music venues as a solo artist, music director, and dueling pianist. Her song “What Are You Doing Rosh Hashanah Eve?,” co-written with Dan Chaika, was voted 2024’s Best Novelty/Comedy Song by the Manhattan Association of Cabarets. Eden was also nominated for a 2024 MAC Award (New York Debut-Female) for “Kahn Artist: Madeline and Me,” a cabaret show that has toured extensively.
Joining Eden on stage is Dot Reiser, a singer-songwriter-storyteller from Westerly, RI and Lake Wales, FL, who discovered songwriting at midlife and fell in love with the craft. Her catalog exceeds 50 original works, with 30 produced recordings and more in the works. Dot’s lyrics are intentional, inviting conversation and bridging divisions. Her song “The Echo Chamber” won “Best Song” at the Braver Angels 2023 National Convention, and her albums “Out of the Driveway” and “Paint Me a Song,” along with a growing collection of singles, are available on streaming platforms.
