VOICES of Westerly: Soupy Edition – Featuring a Screening of One Soupy Season

Join us for a special SoupyFest edition of the UNITED’s Voices of Westerly series, featuring conversations from families on Westerly’s Soupy making tradition as well as a special film premiere of the new short documentary – One Soupy Season – produced by Dale and Leo DeGroff, directed by Chris Kepple.
Voices of Westerly is a monthly conversation series and live podcast recording at the UNITED moderated by artistic director Tony Nunes featuring conversations with the artists, innovators, leaders, and cultural curators who make Westerly such a unique and inspired community.
ABOUT THE FILM – ONE SOUPY SEASON
You are invited to join Dale DeGroff, along with friends and family, as he makes his version of Westerly RI’s most distinctive culinary product: Soupy or soppressata sausage. This short documentary film traces a journey to the first delicious bite, and the bragging rights that come with a fine finished product. It’s a gastronomical trip that includes conversations on local history, family history, and the unique traditions that give each batch of homemade soupy its distinctive taste and allure. Produced by Dale and Leo DeGroff, directed by Chris Kepple, edited by Jillian Noyes of Firesite Films, with original music composed by Antonio Forte, and with a special guest appearance by Westerly icon Dick Pignataro, this is half hour documentary program is one season that will be talked about for years to come.
