The Miracle Club – Irish Film Fest

The Irish Coastal Club, in partnership with The UNITED presents the third-annual Westerly Irish Film Fest. Set in 1967, The Miracle Club follows the story of three generations of close friends, Lily (Maggie Smith), Eileen (Kathy Bates), and Dolly (Agnes O’Casey) of Ballygar, outside Dublin, who win a pilgrimage to the sacred French town of Lourdes, that place of miracles that draws millions of visitors each year. Just before their trip, their old friend Chrissie (Laura Linney) arrives in Ballygar for her mother’s funeral. The women set out on the journey that they hope will change their lives, with Chrissie, a skeptical traveler, joining in place of her mother. Along the way, old wounds are reopened, forcing the women to confront their pasts even as they travel in search of a miracle. Watch the trailer here. Join us before the film, from 6pm to 7pm for a pre-screening reception in the UNITED Gallery.
Leading up to Saint Patrick’s Day, the Irish Film Fest will be showcasing three films from the land of saints and scholars – Ondine (2009); The Miracle Club (2023); and Bridget (2025). The Irish Coastal Club is a Rhode Island non profit social club that enjoys sharing Irish culture with the community through a variety of special events and classes in all aspects of Irish heritage.
