Roots Music Stomp – Traditional Music of Ireland with Jon Warner and Marc Bernier

Join us for the February edition of Roots Music Stomp – leading up to Saint Patrick’s Day, a night featuring the traditional music of Ireland with Jon Warner on bagpipes, and Marc Bernier with Craig Edwards on fiddle, banjo, various mandolin family instruments, tinwhistle, bodhran, guitar, and fife.

Hailing from Connecticut, Jonathan Warner began his bagpiping career in the 1990’s with the Manchester Pipe Band.  Over the next 25 years Jon spent time playing all sorts of bagpipes, fifes, flutes, and whistles- eventually finding a home in traditional Irish music performing on the complex Uilleann pipes.  In 2008, he began learning the art of wooden flute making at Sweetheart Flute Company and completed his own set of pipes. Jon performs regularly throughout New England.

Craig Edwards and Marc Bernier began playing Irish music together in the 1980s. Craig came to Irish music from his earlier love of Appalachian fiddle music, and Marc through his involvement with traditional fife and drum corps.  Between them they’ve shared stages with such Irish music greats as Liam Clancy, Robbie O’Connell, Tommy Makem, Frankie Gavin, Kevin Burke, and Cherish the Ladies, and performed at countless festivals, concerts, and pubs in the US, Ireland, France, Switzerland, and Canada. Their repertoire includes a treasure trove of traditional Irish songs.
