OPEN CALL FOR JAZZ MUSICIANS – Interested performers should be in 6th to 12th grade and live in Rhode Island or Southeastern Connecticut. The first Tuesday of every other month from 7-9pm at the Knick Music Lab.
JAZZ ON A SCHOOL NIGHT JAM is our alternative to the many adult jazz sessions out there. These bi-monthly events provide kids and teens with a place to play and a community of music lovers eager to hear them. The event is designed as a pressure-free, supportive place for kids to feel not just compelled, but happy and secure to take the chance and perform what they have been practicing at home onstage. And not just any stage, but the legendary Knickerbocker stage.
Please note that the Knick Music Lab no longer has a working kitchen. Pre-packaged concession snacks and soft drinks will be available for purchase. No alcohol will be served at this event.
FREE. Open to students in middle and high school looking for a community of jazz learners. Bring your instrument, pick a couple songs and jam. The United Music School’s student jazz combo will start the night by performing a few songs and then start inviting students on stage. Families are welcome and encouraged to stay.
