If Beale Street Could Talk

As part of our Black Voices series the UNITED and Westerly ARC present a screening of Barry Jenkins’ film adaptation of James Baldwin’s If Beale Street Could Talk, followed by a post-film discussion about Baldwin and his work. In the film, a young woman embraces her pregnancy while she and her family set out to prove her childhood friend and lover innocent of a crime he didn’t commit.
