Our November show in the BLUEBIRD @ the UNITED concert series in partnership with the renowned Bluebird Cafe features Marv Green, Leslie Satcher & Tony Arata – three legendary songwriters and performers of Nashville taking center stage to share their music and the compelling stories that inspired their songwriting journey.

This event is part of the UNITED’s “Nashville North” initiative, a dynamic cultural exchange bringing Country and Americana music to Rhode Island from around the U.S. and celebrating Nashville’s iconic music scene through a series of educational, artistic, and performance programs from partners in Nashville and beyond. 

About Marv Green

Marv Green moved to Nashville in March of 1993. Within 6 months, Marv’s songwriting caught the attention of producer Scott Hendricks, who signed Marv to a publishing deal with Big Tractor and Warner Chappell music. Artists including George Strait, Merle Haggard, Willie Nelson, Reba, Jewel, Eric Church, Morgan Wallen, Dierks Bentley, Lonestar, Faith Hill, Brooks And Dunn, Tim McGraw, Kenny Chesney, Carrie Underwood, Bon Jovi, Jason Aldean, Chris Young, Dustin Lynch, Jo Dee Messina, Lee Ann Womack, Sara Evans, Martina McBride, Jessica Andrews, Brad Paisley, Rodney Atkins, Billy Currington, Danny Gokey and Joe Diffie have recorded his songs. Marv captured his first #1 hit, ‘True’, recorded by George Strait in 1998. The following year he scored his second No. 1 with ‘Amazed’ recorded by Lonestar. ‘Amazed’ spent a record breaking eight weeks at #1 on Billboard. Green was honored by BMI with their Song Of The Year Award in 2000. Green was awarded the BMI Songwriter Of The Year in 2001. Marv also claimed the ACM Song Of The Year for ‘Amazed’ as well as a Grammy nomination. Green collected his third #1 song with ‘It Just Comes Natural’ recorded by George Strait and his fourth No. 1 with the Carrie Underwood single ‘Wasted’. His single with Brooks And Dunn titled ‘Proud Of The House We Built’ went Top-5. Rodney Atkins took his song ‘Farmer’s Daughter’ to the top 5. Marv co-wrote ‘Creepin’ by Eric Church. Marv’s other #1 songs include Reba and ‘Consider Me Gone’, Chris Young’s ‘Who I Am With You’, Tim McGraw’s ’Shotgun Rider’ and ‘I Called Mama.’

About Leslie Satcher

At the age of 26 Leslie Satcher moved to Nashville in pursuit of a singing career and was quickly recognized for her gift with lyrics and melody. After being mentored by many of the music industry’s legendary songwriters at a smaller publisher, she made the move to Sony Music Publishing. During this time, she was also signed as an artist at Warner Brothers. While recording her critically acclaimed debut album, “Love Letters,” her songs were growing in demand. Though Leslie is primarily known as a country singer and songwriter, her talents span all genres. She has written or co-written songs recorded by everyone from Willie Nelson to Jason Aldean; Vince Gill to Sheila E.; George Strait to Sheryl Crow; Martina McBride to Keb’ Mo; Blake Shelton to Bonnie Raitt; and many more. She has received multiple BMI “Million-Air” awards, and her incomparable vocals have contributed to an astounding number of Grammy, CMA, and ACM award-winning projects. Leslie’s next two albums, “Creation” and “Gypsy Boots,” were recorded independently and truly exhibit the diversity of her Texas roots and Delta soul. Her most recent release, “2 Days in Muscle Shoals” includes vocals by Vince Gill, Sheryl Crow, Trisha Yearwood and more. Recently, Leslie has seen her songs recorded by Reba McEntire; Sheryl Crow featuring Maren Morris; Stevie Nicks and Joe Walsh; Cody Johnson; and many more. She was inducted into the Texas Heritage Songwriters’ Hall of Fame in 2025.

About Tony Arata

Raised on Tybee Island, Georgia, Tony Arata is noted for his personal, poetic lyrics. He began writing songs in high school and played in regional country and rock bands. He was discovered in an Atlanta nightclub by a representative of Noble Vision Records. As a result, the label’s Jim Glaser recorded Arata’s first hit as a writer, 1983’s ‘The Man in the Mirror.’ Arata also recorded his own LP for the label. Comprising entirely self-composed material, it was picked up for national distribution by MCA Records. He placed two singles on the country charts as a recording artist. The singer-songwriter moved to Nashville in 1986 and signed with Dennis Morgan’s publishing company. In 1990, Garth Brooks’ recording of ‘The Dance’ became Arata’s first No. 1 hit. In addition to Brooks, who recorded eight of Arata’s songs, the songwriter’s works have been cut by Bonnie Raitt, Emmylou Harris, Reba McEntire, Trisha Yearwood, Suzy Bogguss, and Randy Travis, among others. Arata’s songs were particularly favored by Patty Loveless and Lee Roy Parnell. Loveless recorded Arata’s ‘Handful of Dust’ twice (as did Dolly Parton) and has also cut ‘Long Stretch of Lonesome,’ ‘Someday I Will Lead the Parade,’ ‘Nobody Here By That Name,’ and ‘Here I Am’ which became a major hit for her in 1994. Parnell had a Top 10 success with Arata’s ‘I’m Holding My Own’ in 1994 and recorded ‘You Can’t Get There From Here,’ ‘Tell the Truth’ and ‘Right Where It Hurts.’

The Bluebird Cafe is one of the world’s preeminent listening rooms. Over the last 44 years, The Bluebird has gained worldwide recognition as a songwriter’s performance space where the “heroes behind the hits” perform their own songs; songs that have been recorded by chart-topping artists in all genres of music. Located in a small strip mall outside of downtown Nashville, the 86-seat venue is unassuming in appearance but some of the most significant songwriters and artists have performed on The Bluebird’s stage.
