Blade Runner 2049 – Big Screen Society
The UNITED kicks off the new Big Screen Society film series with a screening of Denis Villeneuve’s Blade Runner 2049. A sprawling visual sequel to Ridley Scott’s 1982 sci-fi classic Blade Runner, 2049 follows young Blade Runner K’s (Ryan Gosling) discovery of a long-buried secret that leads him to track down former Blade Runner Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford) who’s been missing for thirty years. Released in 2017, Blade Runner 2049 is a science fiction noir saturated with rich imagery from legendary cinematographer Roger Deakins and immersive worldbuilding from genre master Villeneuve (see also his Dune and Dune: Part Two).
