Life is a Story – The Journey of Life of Pi from story to screen to stage
A conversation with Alexis Rockman, Steve Callahan, and Ashley Brooke Monroe
Yann Martel’s bestselling “Life of Pi,” now regarded as a literary classic, has been adapted into Ang Lee’s beautiful 2012 film and most recently into the hit play that opened this past March on Broadway. “Life of Pi’ is centered on the concept of choosing your own story. To celebrate this theme and the overall creative process, join us for an intimate conversation with artist Alexis Rockman – the inspirational artist and tiger vision concept artist for the Life of Pi film; shipwreck survivor Steve Callahan who served as the marine and survival consultant on the film; and Life of Pi on Broadway resident director Ashley Brooke Monroe.
Tickets include a pre-talk reception from 7:30 to 8:00 with one complimentary beer, wine, or soft drink. Cash bar available thereafter.
Don’t miss “Alexis Rockman: Oceanus” – a major exhibition premiering at Mystic Seaport Museum on May 27, 2023. The show will feature ten large-scale watercolors and an 8-by-24-foot panoramic painting, all commissioned by the Museum to become part of the permanent collection. The project represents a shift in perspective at the Museum to raise awareness and inspire conversations around the critical global issues that face our oceans due to the impacts of maritime activities as part of our collective cultural, social, and economic heritage.
